Step-by-step guides for assessments and training
Learn proper technique for respiratory muscle assessments and training protocols. Follow these tutorials to get accurate results and maximize your training effectiveness.
Measure your respiratory muscle strength with standardized protocols
Maximal Inspiratory Pressure
"Exhale all the air from your lungs. When ready, breathe in as hard as you can."
With your mouth OFF of the device, exhale fully, emptying your lungs completely.
Place your lips tight on the mouthpiece preventing air leaks, inhale hard and fast for 1.5-2 seconds.
When the MIP line appears on the graph, your measurement is complete.
Take a full minute to recover before your next attempt.
Test until you achieve 3 reps within 10%.
Maximal Expiratory Pressure
"Take the deepest breath you can. When ready, breathe out as hard as you can."
With your mouth OFF the device, inhale and completely fill your lungs.
Place your lips tight on the mouthpiece preventing air leaks, exhale hard & fast for 1.5 to 3 seconds.
When the MEP line appears on the graph, your measurement is complete.
Take a full minute to recover before your next attempt.
Test until you achieve 3 reps within 10%.
Sustained Maximal Inspiratory Pressure
"Breathe in as hard as you can and continue as long as possible."
With your mouth OFF of the device, exhale fully, emptying your lungs completely.
Place your lips tight on the mouthpiece, inhale hard and sustain your breath for as long as you can.
Rest 60 seconds, then repeat 2-4 times until you achieve 3 reps within 10%.
Sustained Maximal Expiratory Pressure
"Breathe out as hard as you can and continue as long as possible."
With the device NOT in your mouth, take the deepest breath you can, filling your lungs completely.
Place your lips tight on the mouthpiece, exhale hard and sustain your breath for as long as you can.
Rest 60 seconds, then repeat 2-4 times until you achieve 3 reps within 10%.
Build respiratory muscle strength with progressive resistance training
Inspiratory Muscle Training
"Your first breath sets the target. Match or exceed it on each breath."
Your first breath sets your target. Exhale completely, then breathe in as hard as you can.
For each training breath, try to reach or exceed the target line shown on the graph.
Take the recommended rest. A countdown timer will show when to start your next breath.

Sustained Inspiratory Training
"Match or exceed the baseline curve. Sustain as long as possible."
Your first breath sets your target. Exhale completely, then breathe in and continue as long as you can.
Keep inhaling for as long as possible. Your power score increases the longer you maintain pressure.
Sustained Expiratory Training
"Match or exceed the baseline curve. Sustain as long as possible."

Keep exhaling for as long as possible. Your power score increases the longer you maintain pressure.
Make sure your lips form an airtight seal around the mouthpiece to prevent air leaks.
Give maximum effort on every assessment. Consistency is key for accurate measurements.
Take full 60-second rest periods between attempts to ensure proper recovery.
